Area day-care and preschool centers organized the event to raise awareness of the impact pre-school and day-care businesses have in families today.

A reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 22 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Eric Thies and Tony Hett, Marion High School students, served as pages in the Kansas House of Representatives in Topeka Friday, sponsored by Rep. Duane Goossen. Eric is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thies and Tony is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Hett.

Gerry Harris won the Marion mayoral race handily April 4 and was sworn in Monday afternoon as mayor of Marion. He replaces Martin Tice who did not seek re-election. Harris was welcomed by city commissioners Larry Reiswig and Jack Regnier.
