Crews were busy Monday attaching more clear bulb Christmas lights to the north side of Marion County Courthouse. Homes and businesses throughout Marion are brilliantly lighted for the holiday season, with the community aglow more than ever before.

Rosie Plenert, Marion Elementary School music instructor, is pictured as she directs students Friday during “Sights and Sounds of the Season,” at the annual Bown-Corby and Marion Elementary Schools annual Christmas program.

Chamber of Commerce ambassadors Gerry Harris and Jim Chamberland are pictured as they present Dewey and Yvonne Pennington with a “first dollar of clear profit” plaque and welcome D and D Discount Furniture to the Marion business community.

Marion seniors Mike Helmer and Kristy Herbel earned spots on the Salina Journal’s lists of top 20 high school basketball players in northwest and north central Kansas. Bill Davis was named honorable mention.

Rafters for a new parish hall went up quickly Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion. The hall, which connects with the church, will contain restrooms, a kitchen, meeting room, pastor’s study and partitions to divide it into classrooms.
