Marion kids had a winter wonderland holiday from school room chores between Christmas and New Year’s riding sleds down the Elm Street hill. The city of Marion put up barricades at both the top and bottom of the hill, reserving it for sleds. Also, in an attempt to provide winter recreation advantages for the out of school youngsters, city workmen flooded tennis courts in Central Park for skating. There’s no doubt about it, the Christmas holiday this year was one to be remembered for a lifetime. Oh, what fun it is to be a kid in a town such as Marion.

Of major importance to the entire area is news this week that Charles Phillips of Wichita has decided to move his camper-trailer manufacturing from Newton to Marion. Upward of 100 people will be employed by the plant during peak production periods.

Mike Vinduska of Lincolnville was the first prize winner in the Marion County Record subscription contest this year. He selected a new Underwood Studio 21 typewriter as his prize stating, “Our other typewriter is now away at school and we need one at home.”

Members of the Marion Christian Church hosted a reception Sunday evening in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Oscar T. Moline, who were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.
