Nine of the 12 Leadership Marion County class members were able to attend an informal meeting with Sen. Nancy Kassebaum before the Marion County Conservation District annual meeting Saturday. Holly Kleinschmnidt and Randy Ecklund were crowned Centre’s homecoming queen and king before Friday’s varsity games against Westmoreland.

Three Marion businessmen received first dollar of profit plaques from Marion Chamber of Commerce ambassadors this week. They are Jerry Cady, National Farmers Union Insurance representative, Harvey Sanders, electrician, and DuWayne Suffield, Suffield Heating and Cooling.

Honored at the Marion County Conservation District annual meeting were winners of the recent poster contest in Marion County schools. Those receiving awards were Fred Silhan, Mathew Schuler, Tracy Ryff, Michelle Combs, Chris Hanson and Kelly Peterson.

Members of the undefeated Marion junior varsity girls’ team are Kris Groening, Amy Christensen, Lisa Harbison, Traci Darrow, Iris Shanklin, Ashley Loomis, Melissa Ramsey, Amy Janzen, Nicki Swift, Merri Greene, and Kristi Kraus.
