Marion County Commissioner Leon Suderman took the oath of office Monday, beginning his second four-year term after his uncontested election in November.

Dr. Art Rohn, professor of anthropology at Wichita State University, will be the speaker at Marion Kiwanis Club’s annual Ladies Night banquet Feb. 21. Rohn has done extensive research in the Marion area and is an authority on early life here.

Kids enjoyed Saturday in the snow. It was a day without school, plenty of sunshine, and ample snow for sliding down the east bank of Luta Creek on the north side of the Main Street crossing.

Marion Scholars’ Bowl team of Julie Sellers, Matt Brenzikofer, Lori Tice, and Jennifer Hanson earned second place in the Southeast of Saline varsity tournament Saturday. First place went to Ell-Saline, which defeated Marion 50-20 in the finals.

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Ochs announce the approaching marriage on Feb. 14 of their daughter, Cheri Ochs Bauman, to Edwin M. Wheeler Jr. Wheeler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Wheeler Sr. of Washington, D. C.
