Donna Hajek of Hoppy Line, Marion, is pictured showing one of the 1,900 Miss USA sweatshirts and T-shirts the company has printed for the Miss USA pageant in Wichita. The shirts have been a common sight on television programs recently because each candidate is given one.

Will Helmer is retiring after 24 years of service with Greeley Gas Co. An informal open house, with the public invited, will be held Friday at the utility office on Main Street in Marion.

Sara Mills and Sheldon Bina were named Queen and King of Courts during halftime of Friday’s boys’ basketball game against Herington.

Meggan Silhan, Centre Junior High eighth grade student, and Jesse Bowers, Kimberly Hajek, and Rachel Janzen, Florence Middle School seventh graders, recently served as pages for State Senator Jerry Karr, and are pictured with Governor Joan Finney, in her office at the capitol.

After months of remodeling, the Wander In Kafe is open at 102 E. First in Lincolnville. The former Weathers’ Café closed in April 1990 and the Charles Naerebouts immediately began work on remodeling the building. Though the remodeling is not complete, much of the work has been done so the café opened for business Jan. 15.
