City Commissioner Jack Regnier officially attended his last meeting Monday afternoon, going off the commission after 14 years of public service.

Van’s Department Stone, a Marion Main Street fixture for 45 years, will celebrate its anniversary this weekend. The first store was in the building where Shelter Insurance agency is now located. It moved later to the west side of the American Legion Building, and then occupied the entire ground floor after Sanitary Market closed.

Steven Boone celebrated his sixth birthday Thursday with a party in the park. Guests were Jillyan and Matthew Berg, Stephanie Bryant, Dusty Koop, Jason Matz, Scott Nuss, Bronson Peterie, Matthew Rhodes, Eric Smith, Natasha Steinborn, Sohale Vu, Dale and Rachael Vogel, Valerie and Sidney Waner, Nathan Smith, and Feebie Holdeman.

Eleven students from Berlin-Templehof, German, are in Marion for the annual Easter visits. Since 1985, groups of students have visited Marion and other parts of the United States during their three-week Easter vacations.

No one was injured, but a number of trees and outbuildings were damaged or destroyed when two small tornadoes moved through Marion County March 26 touching down in Logan Township and north of Peabody and Florence.
