John B. Garrard of Lincolnville has been named Outdoor Skills Instructor of the Year for 1990 in Kansas. Garrard was one of 10 Kansans cited for their outstanding efforts in wildlife natural resource conservation work.

Marine Corporal Randy Crawford, brother of Mrs. Rob (Jan) Craft, returned April 1 from serving in Saudi Arabia. Previously a presidential guard at the White House, he will resume duty again as an honor guard in the nation’s capital.

The board of education of Marion Unified School District voted Monday night to air condition Marion Elementary School. Don Storer of El Dorado was given the contract with a low bid of $25,304.

Announcements this week include the celebrations of the 50th wedding anniversaries of two couples, Ralph and Bertha Linnens of Cedar Point on April 21 and Erich and Kathryn Mueller of Tampa on April 20.

Ryan and Chuck Bina are pictured displaying trophies won for finishing in the top five of the USA-Kansas Kids’ state wrestling championship at Salina. Both boys qualified for the southern plains regional championship in June.
