An article written by Christine Laue profiles ever-popular faculty member Pat (“P.J.”) Jackson who is retiring after a 35-year reign as Warrior aficionado, physical education and social science teacher at Marion High School.

Jessica Tajchman, Lincolnville, is pictured receiving the purple and white cum laude cord from David Nichols, professor of animal sciences and industry, in recent College of Agriculture ceremonies at Kansas State University. Tajchman graduated this past May in the top 10 percent of her class.

Jazz-blues artists New Vintage Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 Saturday on the Central Park Stage. Boasting some of the finest musicians in the country, the ensemble includes professionals who have performed with the Tonight Show band, Mel Torme, Bob Hope, and other entertainers.

Ron Wineinger, son of Earl and Mary Lee Wineinger of Marion, received the master of business administration (MBA) degree June 6 in ceremonies at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He will now be employed by Proctor and Gamble at Cincinnati, Ohio.

Recreation committee member Gene Bowers is pictured accepting a $1,823 check from Marion City Clerk Joan Bowers. It represented the city’s portion of recreation committee funds, as well as a donation from Marion Community Day Care which has ceased to operate.
