City of Marion commissioners paid a visit to the building that houses the now defunct power plant Monday afternoon to see if they could determine what should be done with it.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Vantuyl of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Diane, to David Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hett of Marion. The couple plans to exchange wedding vows June 6, 1992.
Norman R. Mueller of Denver has been selected for listing in the national directory of criminal lawyers. He is one of 700 lawyers selected by their peers as one of the best criminal lawyers in the nation. He is the son of Norman and Vivian Mueller of the Canada community.
After a one-year sojourn in Class 2A classification, Marion High School football returns to Class 3A for 1992 and 1993.

Clifford “Tip” McFadden of Marion continues to be active in sports competition. The 82-year-old horseshoe pitcher entered the Kansas State Tournament at Ottawa and ended up in a four-way tie for first place in H-Class. After a 50-shoe pitch-off, he earned state championship honors with a 98 percent “ringer” score.
The House of Representatives’ Interior Committee has approved 27-17 a plan to establish a national monument at the Z-Bar Ranch in Chase County.
