Jan Helmer of Marion has been appointed Clerk of the District Court for Marion County. Helmer was sworn in today, Wednesday, at Marion County Courthouse.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Collett of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter Kathy to Chris Meierhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Meierhoff of Marion. The couple plans to be married March 7, 1992, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

A full-page advertisement congratulates the Florence Middle School Wildcats on their undefeated football season. Only two teams scored against them — Peabody, 6, and Council Grove, 8. Beaten scoreless teams were Hillsboro, Herington, Chase County, Eureka, and Americus.

Gwendolyn Broz, D.O., daughter of former Marion residents, Jim and Velma Broz, has opened a family practice in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.
