Marion County Commission Chairman Charles DeForest and Commissioner Leon Suderman are pictured as they welcome commission nominee Linda Peterson during Monday’s regular meeting. Peterson will take her seat on the commission within a week, after being officially appointed by Gov. Joan Finney. She was selected by Marion County Democrats to fill the unexpired term of the late Lucille Britain.

Six events in Marion Central Park are planned for Summerfest ’92, including a one-man performance of Will Rogers and a return visit by the rock band Blades.

Announcement was made this week that Case and Son has purchased Marion Insurance Center of Marion and the Otto Lehmann Agency in Lincolnville. Both agencies are being moved to the Case and Son location on Main Street. The business known as J&K Agency and Marion Insurance Center was owned by Dean Armstrong of Florence. The Lehmann Agency had been in operation at Lincolnville for more than 50 years.
