An aerial review of Marion County’s 960 square miles begun in October was recently completed and county tax appraiser Max Hayen said the overflights would likely add several thousand dollars to the county’s coffers.
The team sponsored by Dave’s IGA took top honors in the annual Marion City Women’s Bowling Association tournament held the past two weekends at MarBowl Lanes. The team is comprised of Greta Smith, Linda Risenhoover, Sally Biehler, Cathy Robinson, and Lucille Britain.
Marion Mini Mall will celebrate its grand opening this weekend. The former HRK building houses five businesses including a craft shop, a caning shop, a furniture and antique business, a store selling glassware and other collectibles, and H&R Block tax service.
1984 Queen of Courts candidates at Marion High School are Janet Hett, Patty Jeffrey, and Valerie Smith. Crowning of the queen will be Friday night when Marion meets rival Centre High School.
The family of Gerri Hett gathered at the Rocky Hett home Sunday noon to help Rocky celebrate his 40th birthday. Those who enjoyed the charcoaled hamburger dinner were Mrs. Tom Stafford and Amanda, Eric Warren, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Higgins and Gabe, all of Hays, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hett, Aaron and Andy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hett and Jesse, Lanell Tajchman, and Gerri Hett.
