Marion’s first “Spring Fair” in more than 30 years is scheduled for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and more than 40 area merchants have signed up for booth space to display their ward. Donna Fruechting, “Spring Fair” committee chairman for Marion Chamber of Commerce, said response to the upcoming two-day shop fest has exceeded expectations. The affair will include retail exhibits in Marion Municipal Building and Valley United Methodist Church. Fruechting said there also would be livestock, auto, and other exhibits on the street.

More than 30 area residents attended the “legislative Coffee” sponsored by Marion Chamber of Commerce Saturday morning at the Dine Inn Café. State Sen. Jerry Karr and Rep. Duane Goossen were on hand to answer constituent’s questions.

Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Russell were in Wichita Saturday to attend the KMEA statewide music festival concert in which their granddaughter, Laura Lee Rupp, was a participant. Laura, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rupp of Wichita, sang with the choir and was the only girl chosen from North High for this honor.

A weekend burglar at Centre High School broke locks and windows and ransacked student’s lockers before escaping with three cameras and other photo accessories.
