Albert Klenda, chairman of the board of directors of Marion County Hospital District No. 1, welcomed two professional planners from the home office of Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society, Fargo, N.D., last week. The planners are in Marion all week, interviewing patrons of the hospital district to gain information to formulate a five-year plan for St. Luke Hospital. Mail surveys also are being taken.

Crew members of the Marion- based county ambulance have launched a fund drive for the purchase of several two-way radios.

Gerry Harris of Marion will officiate at the Wichita State University-Michigan basketball game Thursday in Ann Arbor, Mich. The game will be televised locally at 7 p.m.

Sue and W.J. Hassinger have cared for an orange tree, their “orange blossom special,” more than 30 years. Come warm weather, it’s moved to the patio of their home where the birds, especially the wrens, enjoy the exotic cover it provides. During the winter months, the tree is a familiar sight to shoppers in downtown Marion.

Henry F. Loveless died March 9 following two years of ill health. He was 69. Loveless devoted the major portion of his lifetime serving his community in the cause of justice; first, as an officer of the law, and later as a judge in the court system.
