Marion County commissioners cast a firm vote Monday in support of a new method by which property tax rolls will be updated through aerial photography. The commission voted unanimously to purchase a 35-millimeter camera for the county appraiser’s office for use in the photography.
Gary Gates, Marvin Rediker, and Randy Rediker, representing Utility Consultants, Inc., met with Marion city commissioners Monday in regard to Marion Cablevision. UCI maintains the system for the city.
Marion’s newest retail store, The Christmas Place, will hold a public open house Sunday afternoon. Dorothy Varenhorst, owner, invites the public to drop in a 111 N. Fourth to see her remodeled store building and browse around for Christmas gift suggestions.
Mary Ann Kohls and her family, of Lincolnville, were hosts to a busload of underprivileged “big city” children Oct. 7-9 for an “old-fashioned, down home” Saturday night picnic and other country-weekend activities because of Mary Ann’s fantasy wish — to share her country farm home. The event was a result of Mary Ann’s grand-prize-winning entry in a “Picnic Fantasy” contest co-sponsored by Capper’s Weekly and Kraft, Inc.
Tracy Burkholder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Burkholder of Marion, was crowned Marion High school 1983 football homecoming queen. The ceremony was held at halftime in the home stands due to unseasonably cold and wet weather.
