According to owner Connie Parscal, Cottonwood Valley Tan and Tone will open its doors Aug. 15 at 330 E. Main St., Marion.

News stories about needed repairs at the residence mentioned a chair with a hole in the cane back.
L. Dena wrote Governor Bill Graves, offering to repair the chair. Her suggestion was accepted and a new, comfortable cane back is being installed.
Marion Elementary gym will be open from 8 to 10 weeknights from now until Aug. 9. High school students and adults may play basketball or volleyball.
More than 80 children participated in the Kansas Kids Read program at Marion City Library this summer.
Jessica Bernhardt read the most books, 225, and Sara Davidson read the most pages, 6,396.
