Visitor attendance at 22 lakes and the recreation areas on the navigation system of the Tulsa District, Corps of Engineers, totaled 38.0 million during the first nine months of this year. Marion Lake, at Marion, had the largest visitation in Kansas with one million.

Jim Slater, a commercial photographer with a wide background of experience in the field, will open his studio in Marion this Saturday. Slater is married to the former Jean Morse of Marion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morse.

Bill Holmes, manager of the Marion Duckwall store, presented length-of-service awards to local employees this week. Lois Raleigh and Leona Meisinger were given 15-year pins, which contained two emeralds and one diamond. Alice Seibel received a three-year pin with three rubies.

Bill Meyer, editor of the Marion County Record, has been named to the board of directors of the Kansas Citizens for Court Improvement.
