Marion’s new tennis courts, a project of one of the PRIDE committees, will soon be a reality. Workmen were pouring concrete this week. Two double courts will be ready for action soon.
Mayor Jack Regnier presented 10-year service awards to Ron Widler and Harvey Sanders at the regular meeting of the city commission Monday afternoon. Widler has been a member of the volunteer fire department and Sander is a lineman.
Terri Friesen reigned as queen over the homecoming football game Friday night. Her attendants were Kathy Edmunds and Kim Duke. The girls also were honored at the homecoming dance Saturday night. Chuck Walker had the pleasure of crowning the queen at halftime of the homecoming game.
The Emmanuel Baptist Church of Marion will mark its 75th, Diamond Anniversary, this weekend.
Kathy Regnier, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. Jack Regnier of Marion, was one of five finalists for the title of “Homecoming Queen” at Southwestern College in Winfield Saturday. Kathy’s parents attended the football game and other activities.
First place winners in this year’s Punt, Pass and Kick contest in the eight through 13 years of age group were Kirk Wyatt, Kerry Magathan, Chris Evans, Stan Wyatt, Kevin Jirak, and Danny Sherbert.
