Marion Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star will observe the birthday of Kansas Jan. 29 with a soup supper to which the public will be invited.

Joan Elling, a student at Kansas State University, will take up the second semester work of her senior year in Kansas City at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she will finish her physical therapy course.

Bruce Padgham, newly appointed project manager at Marion Lake, is busy this week getting ready to move his family to Marion,

James Wyatt of Lost Springs was the winner of this year’s Marion County Record subscription contest. First prize is a Victor electric adding machine. Second prize, a Swingline executive quality stapler, goes to Frances Dixon of Marion. Lloyd Pagenkopf of Lost Springs, third place winner, will receive a Papermate pen and pencil set.

Two students from Marion have been elected to serve as sorority officers at the University of Kansas for the coming year. They are Sharon Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson, and Denise Westerhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Westerhaus.
