The centennial celebration of the Aulne United Methodist Church this past Sunday was an outstanding success. Mrs. Lloyd Darrow, a member of the committee in charge, said 378 registered for the event and there were several others who did not take time to register.

Mr. and Mrs. Dalmer Kaufman, rural Durham, announce the engagement of their daughter, Autumn Renee, to Kem Chisholm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Chisholm, Rose Hill. An early spring wedding is being planned.

In spite of the heat and lack of moisture, the Marion County Record’s annual Produce Derby is receiving new entries weekly. Mrs. Paul Vinduska of the Clark School community northwest of Marion brought in a 16½-inch cucumber—a real slicer—and Mrs. Marvin Meisinger of the Strassburg Community, also northwest of Marion, entered a 2 pound 4 ounce tomato. It was 17½ in circumference.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bredemeier visited Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Conyers and family in Fairbury, Neb., over the weekend. They all attended the Czech Festival at Wilbur, Neb.

The apparent nationwide shortage of lids for home canning jars has prompted a flood of letters to congressional offices, including those of our congressional representative, Garner Shriver.
