J.J. Vinduska has completed his project of a scale model of the old blacksmith shop that stood north of his filling station in Pilsen and was owned and operated by his father many years ago. The old shop, created from memory by Vinduska, a man in his 70s, is a working model and is being shown this week at the Marion County Fair.

Gail Cady of Wichita caught a 44-pound 44-inch long flathead Saturday in the spillway area of Marion Lake. Cady caught the big fish on a 15-pound test line with help from two other men. It took nearly an hour to land him.

The “Personality Profile” in this week’s edition of the Marion County Record features Wendell Dirks of the Durham community. Dirks has been with Donahue Manufacturing Co., Inc., since 1967 where he serves as office manager, but also reaches out into sales of the Donahue line of farm trailers at the wholesale level.

This week’s biggest tomato comes from Ray Crofoot, Cedar Point. It tipped the scales at 2 pounds 4 ounces.

A most interesting series of photographs of graduates from Marion High School since 1884 is on the first floor of the bell tower in the school Administration Building. They afford a lot of pleasure for visiting alumni, especially at times of class reunions. A project for displaying the photos is now in process and will be financed by donations. Money has been rolling in with about $2,500 collected to date.
