A former “Miss America” and former “Miss Kansas” will be featured in concert for the evening entertainment on Old Settlers’ Day. Debbie Barnes Miles will present an evening of entertainment at Marion Municipal Auditorium starting at 8 p.m.
Members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce will hear a presentation on the prospects of cable television for this community at the regular meeting scheduled for this Friday.
The building, that houses the law offices of Wheeler and Wheeler, is being restored to its original splendor. Steve Jost Construction Co. and Bill Baker have been hired for the extensive renovation project.
David Colburn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Colburn of Marion, is semi-finalist in National Merit Scholarship competition. David spends one hour daily at the Marion County Record office studying journalism under the high school work-study program. He also writes high school news for the paper each week.
The 13th birthday of Bryan Taylor was celebrated Sept. 9 at a picnic in Marion’s Central Park. Present were John Dyck of Peabody, Mike Carroll of Florence, David Richmond, John Silhan, Devin Francis, Doug Cusick, David Roberts, Randy Richmond, Billy Turner, Rodney Schmidt, Brian Bowers, Brian Allen, Bruce Williams, and Bryan’s parents and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor and Bruce.
