Marion Chamber of Commerce served 509 area farmers and ranchers at the annual Farm-City appreciation night Monday evening. The Kansas beefsteaks served to the group were broiled on an open grill by Lester Griffith and his capable committee of cooks.

John Gray Montgomery of the Kansas American Revolution Bicentennial Commission was here Armistice Day for the presentation of an official Bicentennial flag designating that Marion is an official Bicentennial City. Mayor Jack Regnier and Margaret Pickering, chairman of the Bicentennial Committee, received the flag.

The Marion Community Arts Council will sponsor an organ recital Sunday featuring Mrs. Ken Forsyth. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in Valley United Methodist Church.

Marion High School football players selected for the Cottonwood Valley all-league team are Gerald Shaft, Jim Bliss, Doug Druse, Tim Zerger, Jim Steele, Dennis Hamm and Dan Ludwig.

Births announced in this issue include Eric Randall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Hardey of Florence; Janene Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gray of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Nicole Denise, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Spohr of Dodge City.

Mrs. Joyce Carlson of Lincolnville was one of more than 2,000 farm and ranch women from across the nation who attended the second National Farm Women’s Forum in Milwaukee, Wisc., from Nov. 22 to 23.
