This week’s Personality Profile introduces Henry Hammann and tells of his coming to the United States from Germany, settling in Burns, Kansas, and purchasing a harness shop.
Nearly 100 attended the PRIDE awards banquet Thursday evening. Following the banquet, Dorothy Varenhorst, PRIDE steering committee chairman, began the program by introducing the following members of the steering committee: Dr. Ted Garner, Margaret Pickering, Lucille Britain, Eloise Mueller, Alex Case, Bill Meyer, Norman Bowers, Jack Regnier, Lola Razor, Gerry Harris, Helen Loveless, Peggy Blackman, Gene Ewert, and Les Griffith.
The First Christian Church of Florence will celebrate its centennial Oct. 17 and members are busy preparing for the event.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beaston were guests of honor at a reception honoring their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 12 at the Presbyterian Church.
Paula Vinduska was named FFA Sweetheart Wednesday afternoon after surviving tasks in the competition which included stacking hay, filling a grease gun, plucking a chicken, and backing a two-wheel trailer. Girls nominated to enter were Bev Bezdek, Carol Ehrlich, Molly Ferrell, Lori Harris, and Paula.
