The resolution relocating the Pilsen Road was passed Monday by the board of county commissioners. The resolution will abandon a proposed bridge over the ditch and dike and proposes a shorter, cheaper bridge over the Cottonwood River, a half mile west of town. The road then will follow the section line to cross U.S. 56 then on to Pilsen.
Alice Gantz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Gantz of Marion, was elected homecoming queen of Neosho County Community Junior College at Chanute on Valentine’s Day. Alice is a 1974 graduate of Marion High School.
Governor Robert Bennett welcomed area girls as visitors in his office last week, when they served as pages for Representative Pascal Roniger. Marion High School students pictured are Rhonda Richmond, Karen Stevens, and Paula, Vinduska.
Those who won door prizes at the annual Goodyear Farm Tire Center open house and pancake feed on Friday were the following: Fred Shields of Lincolnville, first prize, water cooler; Gary Hamm, Marion, lantern; Peggy Summerville, Marion, indoor-outdoor thermometer; and Henrietta Graves, Marion, Goodyear jacket.
Concrete Products has erected a new 60-foot cement storage silo at the plant on Commercial Street in Marion. Concrete operations will begin locally soon, according to owners of the plant.
