The City of Marion this week adopted a stricter no parking ordinance for certain areas in both the “hill’ and “valley” sections of town. The ordinance, number 908, prohibits parking on at least one side of certain highly traveled streets—including Elm, Locust, North Lincoln, North Cedar, South Roosevelt, South Freeborn, South Third, and Hudson.

The MHS Warrior basketball squad completed the ’75-’76 season, the first one since 1964 in which they have come up with more wins than losses. Randy Robertson, senior, with a total of 321 points, was the leading Marion scorer. Brad Heerey was right on his heels with a 310-point total.

A ceremony was held in the American Legion Hall Friday afternoon as local Girl Scouts joined with others all over the world to ignite the “flame of freedom” during the Bicentennial year. Pictured on the front page is Carol Burkholder lighting a candle held by Darla Vogel. Others in the picture are Debbie Kreutzman, Sherri Grentz, Traci Burkholder, Jamie Vogel, and Melanie Conyers.

Entertainment at the monthly meeting of Business and Professional Women’s Club was provided by Jim McPheeters and four members of the MHS forensics squad. Students participating were Rhonda Richmond, Brook Beaston, Doug Francis, and Sandy Bridges.
