The “Personality Profile” on the front page of this issue features Lester Griffith, who has been Marion County’s agricultural agent for 17 years.

Students from Marion who served as pages for Senator John Crofoot March 22 were Brad Herbel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Herbel, and Ronnie Wineinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wineinger of Marion.

Marilee McGinness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of Marion, presented a senior piano recital March 23 in Timko-Barton Hall on the campus of Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Okla. Marilee will graduate from the university May 2 and will tour with the university choir to Europe following graduation. The group’s itinerary includes England, The Netherlands, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Switzerland.

Marion Boy Scouts have been taking part in physical fitness competition, with winners to go to the Newton Scout-A-Rama competition on Saturday. Local winners, listed in first, second, and third places, are 8-year-olds Roger Hudlin, Tim Jordan, and Douglas Bernhardt; 9-year-olds Chris Meierhoff, Michael Bina, and Scott Heidebrecht; 10-year-olds Chris Evans, James Schlehuber, and Tony Winter.

Duane Kirkpatrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kirkpatrick of Florence, has been selected to receive the Future Farmers of America coveted State Farmer degree. Duane is a senior at Marion High School.
