The National Park Service has announced that the Marion Archeological District has been entered in the National Register of Historic Places. The action was taken Monday, according to a telegram from Congressman Garner Shriver to the Marion County Record.

The Personality Profile on the front page of this issue features Paul Vinduska, a farmer in the Czech community northwest of Marion.

Members of Marion High School Class of 1926 recently met at the home of Mrs. Ralph Dohner to make plans for their 50th anniversary. All of the 13 classmates living in Marion participated. They were Cleo Amick Tipton, Clarence Baxter, Dola Blankley Meierhoff, Rozella Byram Bateman, Lola Hildwein Wheeler, Ruth Keazer Dohner, Gertrude Mott Williams, Leslie Powell, Wilbur Razor, Leta Rees, Hannah Schlotthauer Kruse, Genevieve Snelling Meierhoff and Hazel Young Markham.

At the meeting of Marion Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Dorothy Varenhorst reported that silver spoons would be sold in connection with the Bicentennial celebration. The spoons will have an etching of the Stone School in the bowl and will be sold for $7 each. Only 300 have been ordered so the supply is limited.

The University of Kansas honor banquet for Marion and McPherson County seniors of outstanding academic was held Wednesday in McPherson. Those from Marion who attended were Betsy Bowers, Kim Duke, Dave Colburn, Jim Hoch, and Terri Friesen. Attending from Centre were Kenneth Swinney and David Nelson.
