Central Park’s little fountain, which has been a fixture there for decades, now conforms to insurance regulations. A fence has been erected around the reflecting pool. The fountain has also recently received a new coat of paint.

The life of a police dispatcher is sometimes lonely, sometimes hectic. Marion County is fortunate in having dedicated dispatchers, such as Sterling “Squeak” Frame, who this week has been commended by the Lyons Police Department for service beyond the call of duty.

This week’s Personality Profile features Mary Ann Kohls, originator and director of Mary Ann’s School of Dance at Marion and El Dorado.

“The KFDI County Music Show” starring Carl Smith, Donnie-Do-Dad, Buddy Nichols, and the Wichita Linemen will be held Aug. 25 at the Marion County Fairgrounds.

Rodney and Kevin Schmidt were guests of honor Aug. 10 at a party at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schmidt, in celebration of their birthdays. Rod was 14 on the 10th and Kevin was 11 on the 15th.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Endres each received degrees Aug. 6 during graduation exercises at Emporia Kansas State College.
