AUGUST 25, 1976

Bicentennial years, 1776 to 1976, will be the general theme of the Old Settlers’ Day parade, according to Jim Bridges, parade chairman.

This week’s Personality Profile features Jim Christensen, who has returned to Marion following 12 years at Stafford where he was teacher and coach at Stafford High School. Jim will be associated with his parents in Lynn’s Truck and Tractor.

Cast members of the Marion Community Arts Council’s dinner theater production, “A School for Wives,” are Jim Coe, Ed Gilham, John Long, Tony MacMahon, David Stroud, Janet Bryant, and Gail MacMahon.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond hosted the all-state Water Well Association picnic at the Marion County Lake hall Sunday. Some 225 people were in attendance.

Ebenfeld Church, southwest of Marion, and the first Mennonite Brethren congregation in North America, held a three-day centennial celebration Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Serving on the planning committee were Chairman C.H. “Bud” Seibel, Mrs. C.H. Seibel, Mrs. Edwin Harder, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hiebert, Mr. and Mrs. Don Suderman, and John H. Suderman.
