Marion has the opportunity to take advantage of an overall downtown theme. An expert was here and said the town could be made attractive. The business district could sparkle. If the town of Marion really has PRIDE, it will clean up its entrances, build sidewalks, destroy abandoned cars and substandard housing, remodel the downtown stores and begin to move.

Residents of Mid-America Nursing Center enjoyed a marionette show Friday afternoon, brought to them by four Marion businesses, which sponsored the performance of Max and Jan McDowell of Elmdale.

Darlene Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vinduska of rural Marion, is a student in KSU College of Home Economics, and will be a home economics ambassador in Marion during the three-week semester break from studies.

Blair Tharp returned to the United States Nov. 30 following a six-month tour in the South Pacific with the United States Navy. He is now home for a two-week holiday leave.
