Robert Brooker was congratulated Monday noon by Kiwanis president Leroy Riggs on being installed as an honorary member of the Marion club. Brooker, a charter member of the club in 1923. Alex H. Case, who also was a member of the club when it was founded, still is active in the organization.

A short and orderly meeting of 94 persons in Marion Municipal Auditorium Tuesday evening voiced general agreement with plans for a relocated 14.2-mile section of U.S.-56 to go north of both the towns of Marion and Hillsboro.

Mabel Amick was the first place winner in the annual Marion County Record Christmas contest. She won a new Victor electric adder. Mark Jirak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jirak of Tampa, claimed second place prize—a Unicom calculator.

The first big snow of the year fell last week, with a 7-inch accumulation that packed just right for making snowmen, forts and snowballs. Pictured on the front page are Carl Abbott and Craig Mueller throwing snowballs at the photographer as Craig’s sister, Rochelle, looks on.
