Community-minded people in Marion and Marion County will have the opportunity to volunteer to assist and participate in a federally funded nutrition program which will be called Mid-Kansas Senior Service Program. The service will be known as “Fellowship Meals.”
The Kansas Education Commission has designated four senior students at Marion High School as “state scholars.” Mary Lou Bowers, Patricia A. Forsyth, and Mahlon B. Riggs were named academic scholars. Cheryl L. Break was selected as a vocational scholar.
Girls in Marion’s Brownie Troop 56 were thrilled to receive a letter from Governor F. Robert Bennett after they sent some “happy birthday” cards to Kansas on the state’s birthday.
Rod Holub of Centre, who holds the top per-game scoring average in the Cottonwood Valley league with 335 points in 17 games, was named as one of the top five for all-league honors. Bob Hett of Marion was named to the second five. Ron Weber of Marion and Steve Klenda of Centre were picked for the honorable mention team.
