A public hearing on the proposed Marion-Hillsboro airport will be held Tuesday in Marion. The public is urged to attend.

The Rock Island Line between Marion and Aulne was the scene of a costly derailment Friday afternoon when nine grain cars left the track. Thousands of bushels of corn were spilled along the right of way. The accident was about a mile north of Aulne, just south of the Carl Friesen farm.

Marionites going to Topeka Wednesday with Chamber of Commerce members from Marion, Hillsboro, and McPherson were Mike Wood, Les Henderson, Janice Case, Bettie Batt, Bill and Joan Meyer, Dorothy Varenhorst, Roger Hannaford, and Gerry Harris. The group attended a legislative meeting with their various legislators.

Mrs. Joyce Carlson, Lincolnville, has been selected as an outstanding Kansas Hunter Safety instructor and initiated into the “Order of Buffalo,” honor society of the Kansas Hunter Safety Association.
