Kansas Farm Bureau has announced participation in the nation’s bicentennial through a special program of recognition for the state’s century farms. Farms and ranches to be recognized are those that have been in the same family ownership for 100 years or longer as of July 4, 1976.
Women Sports magazine, published by Billie Jean King, this week named Cynthia Friesen of Marion High School as one of the top women athletes of the year. Cindy was featured in the June issue of Women Sports and was presented the “Women Sports Athlete of the Year” award for Marion High School.
St. John Lutheran Church at Lincolnville will celebrate its golden anniversary Sunday. The first church was built in 1886 northeast of town, the second church was constructed in Lincolnville in 1894, and the present church was dedicated on May 17, 1925.
Boys from Marion High School selected for Boys State are Mike Classen, Kevin Fruechting, Chuck Walker, David Colburn, Dewayne Kirkpatrick, and Brook Beaston. Girls chosen to attend Girls’ State are Gail Bruner, Betsy Bowers, and Kim Duke. Alternates are Shelley Cowan and Joni Wiens.
