Commercial messages promoting the town of Marion are currently being shown on television station KAKE (Channel 10) at Wichita. John Sandwell, a native of Marion and a member of the staff at KAKE-TV, prepared the commercials.

Marion girls are the proud possessors of the highest award given at the recent World Cheerleader Council held at Wichita State University. They won the pep pennant, as well as several red and blue ribbons. The Marion squad is comprised of Cindy Harris, Rhonda Williams, Carol Colburn, Terri Friesen, and Julie Zerger.

Mrs. S.W. Gound and Mrs. Wayne Colle were hostesses to neighbors Saturday morning to honor Mrs. Richard Johnson and Mrs. Jack Helmer who recently became neighbors. The morning hours were spent in the Gound backyard. Coffee and other refreshments were served to 14 guests.

Mrs. Doug Marler has joined the staff at Marion Municipal Library.
