Temperatures have been hitting 100 or better daily, with no rain or relief in sight.

Rochelle Mueller and Shawn Dalke are two of the young artists who will display their work in Marion’s Central Park. The girls are but two of the many students who have been learning about various art forms this summer as a part of the program sponsored by the Community Arts Council committee of PRIDE.

One of the largest public auctions to be held in this area for years will take place Saturday at the Ferrell Ranch, 15 miles northeast of Marion. J.D. Ferrell has sold his ranch and is holding a complete dispersal sale.

Teresa Costello, Lynn Colburn, Barbara Costello, and Sherry Classen are visiting in Independence and Kansas City this week. They are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mac McNamara, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bryant, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Scanlan.

MarBowl Lanes will reopen for the fall season on Monday, Aug. 5. Jerry Lee Morris of Topeka has been hired as the bowling alley manager.
