The annual flea market will be held in Marion this Saturday. Earl VanBuren, chairman of the event for the Marion Chamber of Commerce says that about 20 clubs and organizations have reserved space for the event.

Lester Henderson, member of the Marion City Commission, is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Spectators at MarBowl Lanes recently saw Leona Grentz of Marion score a new record for women bowlers at that alley. She rolled a spare and 11 straight strikes for 290—highest game ever bowled by a woman in league play at MarBowl.

A special Bicentennial Day at Marion Elementary School Thursday was devoted to viewing, and in some cases practicing, household chores, crafts, and hobbies used to keep their grandparents and great-grandparents busy.

Rod Richmond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond of Marion, was the escort for Queen Teri Robinson at the homecoming football game Friday night. Teri is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Robinson of Florence.

Nancy Wood, bride-elect of Blair Tharp, was guest of honor at a “come and go” shower Sept. 26 at the Ed Colburn home.
