Cable television, offering increased variety in television programs, improved reception, and many other possible advantages for the community, may become a reality in Marion if adequate support is shown at the city election Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Jewell Amick of the Marion Chamber of Commerce presented Jack Bowyer of Antelope a $15 gift certificate as third prize in the Christmas drawing held Friday night. Dorothy Conyers missed the $25 second prize, and Kenneth Muse failed to collect the $50 first prize. There will be another drawing next Saturday night for $100, $50, and $15.

Kenneth E. (Shorty) Robinson, Florence letter carrier, is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.”

The suspended Christmas tree at the corner of Third and Main was so heavy it began pulling away the mooring bricks on the building owned by First Federal Savings and Loan. So, the big tree has been moved to a new location near Central Park.

Debbie Carter, Marion County extension home economist, will present a demonstration on microwave ovens Dec. 8 at the Hillsboro Co-Op.

A 13-foot Christmas tree made of tin can lids stands facing east in the front year of the home of Lillie Schlotthauer. It glitters in the daytime sunlight and shimmers reflecting artificial light at night. It is one of Marion’s prettiest and most original Christmas displays.
