Marion High School honor students to be honored Feb. 16 at the annual dinner and program at McPherson are Gary Boyle, Carol Colburn, Sue Fruechting, Bradley Heerey, Michelle Mellott, Lori Schmidtberger, Julie Zerger, Catherine McGuire, and Rhonda Williams. The event is hosted by local members of the University of Kansas Alumni Association Speaker of the evening will be KU Chancellor Archie Dykes.

Robert Meisinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Meisinger of Marion, has earned the award for being the top district manager of General Motors. Meisinger lives at Boise, Idaho, where he is district manager in the Parts Division for General Motors.

Roger Hannaford II is the featured person in this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Candidates for basketball “Queen of Courts” are Crystal Kerbs, Judy Tajchman, and Cheryl Robinson. Crowning of the queen will occur Friday night at the Marion vs. Chase County basketball game.

Lori K. Schmidtberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidtberger of Marion, has placed among the top 300 high school seniors across the nation in the annual Science Talent Search. She was one of five in Kansas who received the honor.

A full page in this issue is devoted to daycare homes operating in Marion. Among the small children pictured with the story are Alan Meisinger, Jason May, Chris Helmer, Robin Garrard, and several others who are unidentified.
