Recently added to the national Register was the picturesque stone double arch bridge south of Clements. The gracefully proportioned twin-arch bridge is a fine example of craftsmanship and design and is said to be one of the most attractive bridges in the state, according to the Kansas Historical Society.

Approval was granted Monday at the Marion County Commissioners’ meeting to install outdoor lighting at Marion County Courthouse.

Ralph Linnens of Cedar Point is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.” Linnens is president of the Cedar Point State Bank. His son, Barry J. Linnens, is cashier.

Barry Seifert, a member of Strassburg Baptist Church, received word this week that he has been chosen to be a member of the God’s Volunteers team for one year. The team will travel over the United States making appearances at many North American Baptist Churches.

Darwin Anderson and Lori Schmidtberger, Marion High School students, attended the Emporia Regional Science Fair March 3-6. Anderson received honorable mention in the chemistry division. Schmidtberger place first in the biology division.

Laurie Laubhan, MHS student, attended the 4th District Fine Arts Festival in Chapman Saturday and placed first with her reading.

Cub Scouts of Pack 102 and their families visited St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen Feb. 27 to see Michael Bina received the “Parvuli Dei” (children of God) award.
