Marion County jail was the topic of considerable discussion Monday morning at a meeting of county commissioners M.P. Thompson Jr., Ed Broz, and Elmer Uphoff. Results from a report by Harry L. Baxter, architect for corrections units, showed areas in which the jail is deficient.
Teresa Costello, a Kansas State University student from Marion, serves the 19,000-member student body and the Manhattan community as a disc jockey on the university’s KSDB-FM station. Costello, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello of Marion, can be heard from 6 to 9 a.m. each Thursday.
Ern Hett is having fun at a hobby, which has put him into a good business that reaches out to far corners of the country. Hett, who is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile, is a welder who does brazing and rustic wood work at the Copper Shed, located a few steps from the Hett home east of Aulne.
Fifteen Marion High School students attended the Emporia State model U.N. meeting recently. Those students included Jeff Griffith, Paula Deines, Mary Kay Waner, Carol Ehrlich, David Bryant, Cindy Moody, Sandy Bridges, Barbara Costello, Bev Bezdek, Lori Harris, Kay Blackman, Paula Vinduska, Karen Stevens, Gary Ewert, and Molly Ferrell.
