Robert Collins of Wichita, trustee of the Anna and Nellie Ryan fund, has presented $10,000 checks to the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council and Tabor College at Hillsboro. Other gifts of the Ryan sisters and their brother, James, include funding a medical scholarship at the University of Kansas for local students, a quarter-million-dollar grant to St. Luke Hospital for purchase of equipment, and numerous other bequests including scholarships for students to become osteopathic physicians, a new library at Kansas Newman College and others.

Lynn Christensen, Marion farm machinery dealer, is featured in this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Brook J. Beaston, Marion, is one of eight engineering students at Kansas State University beginning their first work assignments on the college’s work-study program. Beaston, a sophomore, is working at U.S. Gypsum, Southard, Okla.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary May 28 with an open house at the Youngtown United Methodist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Suderman of Hillsboro this week were hosts at a dinner in their farm home southwest of Marion honoring Alvaro Guimaraes, a miller from Lisbon, Portugal. Other guests included representatives of various agricultural interests in this area. Guimaraes has stopped in Kansas to get close to the wheat farming and marketing business.
