Mr. and Mrs. Ken Forsyth of Salina, former music teachers at Marion, will conduct a 3-week “Voyagers International” tour this summer to Europe where they will present musical concerts. Students who will be on the tour include Barbara Costello, Scott Miesse and Bret O’Dell, spring graduates of Marion High School.

Sharon Costello of Tampa has been announced as the winner of the James A. Wheeler memorial scholarship. Sharon will attend Wichita State University next year and study physical therapy. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Costello.

Les Malmgren, grade school principal and classroom teacher at Florence for the past 17 years, retired last week. Malmgren taught school in Kansas for a total of 41 years.

A city employee is pictured at the bottom of a seven-foot pit attempting to repair a hole in the city’s century-old water main. This leak is located just east of Steve’s Dairy Palace. The city is still looking for more leaks. Over 10 million gallons have been lost from the city delivery system since January when the problem was first discovered.

Ella Winter, who has been serving lunch in the Marion schools for the past 22 years, is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile” by staff writer Ruth Meyer.

Carol Holt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Holt of Marion, has been hired as an elementary teacher in Rosalia.
