A patented rubber-asphalt mix is being used to resurface US-77. The mix is sprayed on the highway through nozzles in a tank truck. A chip spreader with rock then lays down an even layer of rock behind the tank truck. The rock is embedded in the hot mixture by 25-ton pneumatic rollers following the chip spreader. The new process should reduce surface cracking and protect the road base.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Bennett of Blue Springs, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter Nancy to Dr. Michael Good, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Good of Marion. The wedding is being planned for December.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Heidebrecht and children, Dale and Scott, received the “Kiwanis Family of Builders” award this year by the Marion Kiwanis Club. The award was made Monday at the regular club meeting.
