It’s a chance to come home. The city of Marion will open its doors and its people their hearts to the surrounding county, former residents and acquaintances from throughout the United States this Saturday during its 67th annual Old Settlers’ Day. This year’s theme is “Marion, A Pacemaker City.”

Tom Evert, who has been administrator at St. Luke Hospital for the past two years, announced this week that he will be leaving Marion to attend college in Minnesota to earn a master’s degree in business administration.

This week’s article by staff writer Pam Vinduska on the newspaper’s country correspondents features Neva Applegate who has worked as the Ramona correspondent for a number of years. Exactly how many, she couldn’t say.

Mrs. Bill (Margaret) Pickering was elected chairman of the PRIDE steering committee at a meeting of that organization Monday.

Class photographs and other documents of Marion’s Hill School, dating from the turn of the century have been donated to the Marion County Historical Museum by the family of Ruth Keller.

The Elgin House, Marion apartment complex, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Announcement was made this week by Congressman Dan Glickman.
