Life Flight, an emergency transportation service based at St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., landed briefly at Marion’s St. Luke Hospital Monday morning. The flight was made to permit review of the Life Flight equipment and services by hospital and Marion County Ambulance Service personnel.

Ensign Daniel Holub, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Holub of Marion, has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for “superior performance” while attached to Attack Squadron 94 aboard the USS Coral Sea. Holub is a graduate of Centre High School.

Marion High School Principal Martin C. Tice is pictured accepting the first issue of a new school newspaper from Editor Debbie Kreutzman. Staff members looking on include Alice Hockensmith, Mary Medina, Ann Waner, Kris Kelsey, Julia Carr, Jami Shirley and adviser Julie Fischer.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Carlson of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Cindy Kay, to Charles E. Reece Jr., son of Mrs. Ed Siebert of Marion and Charles E. Reece Sr. of Oklahoma City. No wedding date has been set.

Rev. James Brygger, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, is the new minister at Strassburg Baptist Church. A reception in his honor will be held in the church basement after the Sunday evening worship service.
