Charles “Bob” Druse of Marion was issued a cereal malt beverage license Monday at the regular meeting of the city commission. He will operate “The Bakery,” a tavern near First and Main.
An historic Marion landmark, the “creamery” building on West Main Street, was capped with a protective roof of lumber last week by Kelly Construction Co. workers. Built of limestone during the 1870s, the building had housed a bank, warehouse and other businesses. For the past 10 years it has stood empty, slowly deteriorating.
