Marion has big plans for Groundhog Day. There will be half-price sales and a live groundhog to forecast the weather. Is a groundhog a little animal, a land baron, or a platter of pork sausage? Take your pick. Janice Case, Chamber of Commerce executive secretary, said the chamber is open to ideas from anyone on how to make the weekend fun and productive for the business community.

Mrs. Ernest (Dola) Meierhoff, site manager at Hilltop Manor for the Fellowship Meals program, is the featured in this week’s Personality Profile.

Three sisters, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hett, have been named to the dean’s honor roll at Wichita State University for the fall semester. Melanie (Mrs. Larry) Ensey, Melinda (Mrs. Kendall) Helmer, and Melissa (Mrs. Doug) Krause are juniors at WSU. Melanie and Melinda are nursing students. Melissa is studying accounting.

Wedding vows were exchanged Dec. 30 by Betsy Bowers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers of rural Marion, and Randy Bunnel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bunnel of rural Welda.
